Description

This course is for graduate students and postdocs in the arts, humanities, and qualitative social sciences who want a space to read, discuss, and reflect on effective teaching and learning in the college classroom.

We’ll cover best practices in curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment. We’ll discuss how to prepare effective lectures, discussions, and experiential and interactive learning experiences. We’ll think critically about how to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes learning for all students. And we’ll design teaching artifacts like syllabi, unit or lesson plans, assignments descriptions, rubrics, and teaching philosophies useful to your current and future teaching practice…and job search! Most importantly, this welcoming and supportive learning community is designed to help you become a more reflective and intentional practitioner of teaching and learning.
