Proactive communication in research mentoring is essential, including aligning expectations from the start and throughout the mentoring relationship. Our conversation will include working through a case study and considering what will be in your template compact to promote successful relationships with your mentees. All UW-Madison affiliated participants are welcome: you don't have to be currently mentoring to fully participate in the workshop.

InĀ  this workshop, you will:

  • Recognize the importance of taking a proactive approach to aligning mentor-mentee expectations
  • List several areas where misalignment can occur, and proactive alignment is valuable
  • Identify elements you want to use in your mentoring compact
  • Describe a process you might use for alignment in your mentee-mentor relationships

Note that registration is also open for fall sections of the full Research Mentor Training seminar, which includes aspects such as assessing mentorship communication, giving and receiving feedback, culturally aware mentoring, and more. Register here!
